* Bold, congregational participation.

GATHERING IN GOD’S PRESENCE

PRELUDE

*CALL TO WORSHIP (based on Psalm 104:1,31,33)

Praise the Lord!

Lord my God, how great you are!

You are robed with honor and with majesty.

you are dressed in a robe of light.

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.

I will praise my God to my last breath!

May the glory of the Lord last forever!

OPENING PRAYER

Move among us, Spirit,

and gather us together with you.

Take our many selves

– our lives, our loves, our ideas,

our questions, our speech, our silence –

and unite us as your people.

Give us the gifts of perception and understanding,

so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,

we may be able to witness to your presence

in our common life. Amen.

*CALL TO CONFESSION

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord God, you know us too well.

You know that we would be like the disciples

following the crucifixion and even the resurrection.

We would rather hide and mutter and weep,

than proclaim the power of your love.

The world is a difficult place.

We fear so much.

We want people to like us,

and so, we hold back on our proclamation of our faith.

We don’t want to offend anyone.

But your love and presence are not offensive.

They are empowering and healing.

So please forgive us.

Bring your holy fire upon us this day

to ignite a spark of joy in our hearts and our voices.

Bring the power of your rushing wind through our spirits

that we may be turned in new directions

to declare your love and forgiveness.

We pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

ASSURANCE

*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

The peace of the risen Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Living God, you sent the Holy Spirit to breathe life into your church.
