GREETINGS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Be still and know that God is.

God was, also, in the beginning.

And when all human striving has ceased, God will still be.

From everlasting to everlasting, God is God,

and alone is worthy to be worshiped.

Opening Prayer

O God,

We gather in your presence with expectation,

hungry for an encounter with you,

eager to hear what you say to us.

Open our eyes and ears to the presence of Your Holy Spirit.

May the seeds of Your Word, scattered among us this morning

fall on fertile soil.

May they take root in our hearts and lives,

and produce an abundant harvest

of good words and deeds.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ,

our teacher and our Lord.

Amen.

*OPENING HYMN Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above

1. Sing praise to God who reigns above,

the God of all creation,

the God of power, the God of love,

the God of our salvation.

With healing balm my soul is filled

and every faithless murmur stilled:

To God all praise and glory.

2. What God’s almighty power has made

God’s gracious mercy keepeth;

by morning glow or evening shade

God’s watchful eye ne’er sleepeth.

Within the kingdom of God’s might,

lo! all is just and all is right:

To God all praise and glory.

3. The Lord is never far away,

but through all grief distressing,

an ever-present help and stay,

our peace and joy and blessing.

As with a mother's tender hand,

God gently leads the chosen band:

To God all praise and glory.

4. Thus all my toilsome way along,

I sing aloud thy praises,

that all may hear the grateful song

my voice unwearied raises.

Be joyful in the Lord, my heart,

both soul and body take your part:

To God all praise and glory

CALL TO CONFESSION

*SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of Mercy and Grace, Universal Healer,

in this time of sickness we cry to you.

We open our hearts to receive you, to find comfort in you.

Today we pray about COVID-19.

Lord, have mercy.

You call us in such a time to be bold, to be brave.

Forgive us Lord, for we have been afraid.

You call us in such a time to stand tall.

To use hands and feet to serve.

Forgive us Lord, when our fears paralyze us.

Forgive us, Lord, for the more deadly virus of racism

which seeks to tear us apart.

As we live for your Kingdom in the world,

still we must take caution in such a time.

We admit that at times we make poor decisions.

Forgive us when we have made light of the suffering of others.

Forgive us when we have not considered our duty.

Give us wisdom in how to care for each other

and your global people. Amen

OFFERTORY

*CLOSING HYMN I Have Decided to Follow Jesus

I have decided to follow Jesus; I have decided to follow Jesus; I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back, no turning back.

The world behind me, the Cross before me; the world behind me, the Cross before me; the world behind me, the Cross before me. No turning back, no turning back.

Though none go with me, I still will follow; though none go with me, I still will follow; though none go with me, I still will follow. No turning back, no turning back.

Will you decide now to follow Jesus? Will you decide now to follow Jesus? Will you decide now to follow Jesus? No turning back, no turning back.
