GREETINGS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Ps. 47:1–2, Ps. 92:1)

Clap your hands, all you peoples;

shout to God with loud songs of joy.

For the Most High is awesome,

a great sovereign over all the earth.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

to sing praises to your name, O Most High.

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty and eternal God, by your grace

you have called us in this time and place

to be your servant people as we follow our servant Lord.

Make your Holy Spirit move within and among us,

that together we may live a new life

in the crucified and risen Christ.

Bind us together in faith,

so that as we receive all spiritual gifts

needed to fulfill our calling,

we may support one another in common ministry;

through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen.

*OPENING HYMN Great Is thy Faithfulness

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;

there is no shadow of turning with thee;

thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;

as thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:

Great is thy faithfulness!

Great is thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see:

all I have needed thy hand hath provided--

Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

CALL TO CONFESSION

*SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty God,

by water and your Holy Spirit

you baptized us to be your own

and called the church into being.

We confess that we hold back

the love of your Spirit among us.

We do not listen for your word of grace.

We do not speak the good news of your love,

nor live as a people made one in Christ.

Forgive us, Lord.

Have mercy on us, O God.

Transform our lives by the power of your Holy Spirit

and make strong our common witness

to the one Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

(Worshipers are invited to share the peace of Christ.)

The peace of the risen Christ be with you.

And also with you.

GLORIA PATRI (remember masks)

THE WORD

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Overwhelm us with your Spirit, O God,

that the words we hear

will speak to our hearts as your Word,

made known to us in Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen

SCRIPTURE LESSON Matthew 16:21-28

For the Word of God in Scripture,

For the Word of God among us,

For the Word of God within us,

Thanks be to God.

SCRIPTURE LESSON Exodus 3:1-15

For the Word of God in Scripture,

For the Word of God among us,

For the Word of God within us,

Thanks be to God.

INSTALLATION

A Litany of Gifts

As in one body we have many parts

and each part has its own function,

so all of us together with Christ are one body,

and we all belong to each other.

We have different gifts

according to the grace God has given us.

If your gift is to hear God’s Word,

speak it out in faith.

If your gift is service,

live to serve others.

If your gift is the heart of a teacher,

teach what is true.

Let preachers preach with conviction,

and givers give freely;

let officers work diligently for the people,

and let those who serve the poor, serve gladly.

Let us not lack for enthusiasm,

but be ardent in spirit,

serving the Lord,

rejoicing in hope,

patient in suffering,

constant in prayer,

supporting one another,

and welcoming all.

The ministry of the church is shared by pastor and people,

so that all together may fulfill the mission

to which we are called in Jesus Christ.

In baptism, Steve and Renee were clothed with Christ.

and they are now called by God through the voice of the church

to serve as ruling elders on session of this congregation.

CONSTITUTIONAL QUESTIONS

PRAYER OF INSTALLATION

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE/PASTORAL PRAYER

Lord, in your steadfast love,

Hear our prayer.

*THE LORD’S PRAYER

OFFERTORY

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

Generous God, you give the best to each of us;

thank you for this opportunity to share from our abundance.

We give these gifts, and we devote ourselves to you.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. AMEN.

*CLOSING HYMN My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less

My hope is built on nothing less

than Jesus' blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

but wholly lean on Jesus' name.

Refrain:

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;

all other ground is sinking sand,

all other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils his lovely face,

I rest on His unchanging grace;

in ev'ry high and stormy gale,

my anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]

His oath, his covenant, his blood

support me in the whelming flood;

when all around my soul gives way,

He then is all my hope and stay. [Refrain]

When he shall come with trumpet sound,

O may I then in Him be found,

dressed in His righteousness alone,

faultless to stand before the throne. [Refrain]
